About Wild Woman

Two sisters. One promise to every woman.

Wild Woman was founded by Dr Tia Kansara and Hema Kansara. Two very different careers, one shared conviction: every woman deserves an older sister she can trust with her body, her questions and the truth.

Dr Tia Kansara Hon FRIBA

Economist and regenerative design pioneer

Tia has spent more than twenty years designing environments that make people healthier, from future cities in the Gulf to the global commons. A multi-award-winning entrepreneur and CEO of Replenish Earth, she was the youngest person ever made an honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and has advised governments, the Royal Family of Bhutan and global brands on wellbeing, longevity and regeneration. Wild Woman brings that work home: to the body, its rhythms, and the woman living in it.

Portrait of Hema KansaraCo-founder

Hema Kansara

Risk leader, critical friend, mother of two

For fourteen years Hema has been the person senior teams in UK financial services could say the difficult thing to. She has built risk functions from scratch at RBS, Worldpay, Secure Trust Bank and Al Rayan Bank, and today leads enterprise risk at a UK building society. A Mental Health First Aider, non-executive director of a mental health community interest company and mother of two, she brings the steady judgement, safeguarding and plain truth-telling that a trusted older sister is made of.

  • Head of Enterprise Risk
  • 14 years in UK financial services
  • Mental Health First Aider
  • NED, mental health CIC
  • FCA Sandbox mentor

“Capable people rarely get stuck for lack of ability. They get stuck because there is nobody in their life positioned to tell them the truth without it costing something.”

Hema Kansara

That is what an older sister is for. It is why we built Wild Woman.

How we live it

We only recommend what we live.

Both sisters are natural health advocates who practise what Wild Woman teaches. Four commitments shape their days, and the app.

I.

Movement

A body that moves is a body that speaks. Daily exercise keeps them honest with their energy, and is why Wild Woman meets every inner season with the movement it asks for.

II.

Mindset

Name the thing being avoided, then take the small first step. Hema’s coaching and Tia’s design thinking share one belief: clarity is a practice, and it can be learned.

III.

Spirituality

Spirituality runs through both their lives. Tia works within Vedic and somatic traditions and translated the Shikshapatri into Japanese. Both treat the cycles of the body and the sky as sacred.

IV.

Service

From mental health first aid to protecting the global commons, both have built their lives around service. Wild Woman is the next act of it, for women and the girls who come after them.

Tia Kansara, PhD, Hon FRIBA, is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur with more than twenty years in sustainable development, known for creating health-enhancing environments that foster holistic wellbeing, longevity and regeneration across generations.

As CEO of Replenish Earth Ltd, a cause and a collective action to protect the global commons, she merges technology with ecological principles to restore the planet and build resilient communities. In 2008 she co-founded Kansara Hackney Ltd with Rod Hackney, the UK’s first ISO-certified sustainable lifestyle consultancy, and became the youngest person ever to receive the Royal Institute of British Architects’ honorary fellowship. She is also a visiting professor at CEPT University.

Cities, energy and the people inside them

Tia completed her PhD at University College London’s Energy Institute on designing future cities and evaluating their energy use. During it she worked alongside MIT, the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, the Executive Affairs Authority, the Department of Municipal Affairs, the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority and the Regulation and Supervision Bureau to create the first energy baseline and comprehensive energy evaluation in the Gulf.

In 2010 she wrote the brief and appointed Foster + Partners for the Saudi American Bank’s headquarters, becoming the first woman to judge a LEED Platinum building in Riyadh. She has served as UCL Bartlett’s Ambassador to the Gulf and as an adviser to the Economic Times of India.

On the world stage

In 2012 she presented her views to President Hollande and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the UN’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative. In association with the Club of Rome and the UN General Assembly, she advised the Royal Family of Bhutan and Prime Ministers Jigme Thinley and Tshering Tobgay on an international commission for sustainable economic growth. She has hosted the UN’s pavilion at COP and advised on post-SDG strategy.

Named by the Financial Times among the UK’s top 100 ethnic minority leaders in technology, she counts Coca-Cola, Bloomberg, the European Commission, Forbes, Formula One, MIT and Siemens among her clients. As a keynote speaker and moderator she has worked with Forbes, Google, Coca-Cola, the European Business Angels Network and London Business School, and has lectured at McGill University, the University of British Columbia, the New Delhi School of Planning and Musashi Institute of Technology, among others.

Where it began

From a family with roots in Gujarat and schooled in Birmingham, Tia presented the International Baccalaureate to Lord Adonis at the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit in 2000. She studied Economics and South Asian Studies at SOAS, then worked with the Japanese Ministry of Education to modernise English teaching in Japanese high schools, translating Lord Swaminarayan’s Shikshapatri into Japanese along the way.

Through Wild Woman, Tia turns two decades of designing healthier places toward the most intimate environment of all: a woman’s own body, and the cycles of the earth and sky it moves with.

  • CEO, Replenish Earth Ltd; co-founder, Kansara Hackney Ltd

The higher you go, the fewer people you can tell the whole thing to. Hema Kansara has spent fourteen years in UK financial services being the person senior teams could say the difficult thing to.

She has built risk functions from scratch at RBS, Worldpay, Secure Trust Bank and Al Rayan Bank. Today she is Head of Enterprise Risk at a UK building society, where she sits with the chief executive, the finance and operating directors and the non-executive directors, deputises for the Chief Risk Officer, and is the organisation’s interface with the PRA and the FCA. Each role has been larger than the last.

The critical friend

The technical work was never the hard part. What boards needed was someone who would say the true and inconvenient thing, in language they could act on, and still be asked back the following quarter. The professional term is critical friend. Hema came to see that this was the real job, and that the frameworks were only the ticket into the room.

What she learned there shapes Wild Woman. Capable people rarely get stuck for lack of ability. They get stuck because nobody in their life can tell them the truth without it costing something. Remove that for an hour and most of what looked like a problem turns out to be a decision already made and not yet said out loud. Her method is simple and exacting: define the outcome in specifics, find the real constraints, name the thing being avoided, and make the first move small enough that the tenth becomes inevitable.

Why she is a founder

A women’s health companion holds some of the most sensitive information a person has. Hema brings the governance, risk and regulatory fluency to protect it, and the conviction that women’s data, and women themselves, deserve to be safeguarded rather than sold. As a mother of two, she also brings the question every parent asks: what would I want my children to find when they go looking for answers?

She is completing a coaching and leadership qualification focused on high-performance and transformational leadership, choosing to earn it in full rather than trade on seniority. She is a Mental Health First Aider, a non-executive director of a community interest company delivering accessible mental health services, and a mentor on the FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox and Digital Sandbox programmes, where she watches from the inside as AI reshapes work and society.
